I can remember a time when my elementary school had a bake sale to raise money for new manually operated film projectors. Today, my son’s elementary school applies for technology grants to finance laptop computers and virtual reality equipment. We have certainly come a long way since I was a child growing up. Much further than I thank any of us may have expected, both technologically and also in our methods of raising the funds that finance the miraculous and ever changing windows into the future.

With society’s fast paced and constantly evolving existence, it seems that life and basic survival have become much more complicated in every passing decade. The need to “keep up” seems to be increasingly detrimental to any individuals success in the modern world. Hence the need for advanced technological inventions and advancements that aid in efficiency, accuracy and organizational skill. Looking forward into the future, again recognizing the increasingly fast pace our society evolves at in the new millennium; we must keep the youth of the planet properly educated in modern technology and familiarize them with the equipment necessary to achieve such skills and knowledge. Plainly put, it’s our only hope. Technology grants are available in enormous amounts to help achieve this common worldly goal.

Each year the US government distributes over seven hundred and twenty five million dollars to an agency called The United States Department of Education. This agency sponsors a program appropriately named “Enhancing Education Through Technology”. This is a phenomenal program that does just that. It greatly enhances the process of technological education by awarding technology grants to numerous schools, libraries, community self help centers, park districts, and other facilities that provide educational programs to community members. The funds awarded in these grants are used to purchase computers, internet access, technological training, and staffing of these educational learning facilities.

We’ve all heard so much about the “No Child Left Behind” foundation. Every single solitary program sponsored by this amazing and essential foundation is a juncture to utilize this funding for an endless amount of favorable purposes. This foundation grants a majority of the awards required by law to distribute to numerous organizations in efforts to integrate modern technology into the US educational system’s basic curriculum. Hence providing the nations youth, our future, with the knowledge of advanced technological equipment and procedures that they will be required to master in order to keep up with the fast paced future we anticipate to come. This foundation has made it not only their goal, but also their oath to society that each child in America will be technologically literate before entering high school. And they’re backing it up with $750 million dollars in government funded technology grants.

Non-for-Profit grants are provided by organizations and the government to help with the success of these organizations. These funds are provided to help finance the goals of the non-profit group, and to help with basic business expenses.

Let’s first define the term “non for profit”. Generally, most individuals assume that anything with that particular term attached to it means that the group or charitable organization who work towards any given goal are either taking charitable donations and/or distributing them with no type of administrative funding, and operating solely on the participation of non paid volunteers. It’s also commonly presumed that non-for profit grants are awarded for no other reason than for the organization to divide and reissue one hundred percent of the funds to qualified applicants who apply for assistance within the boundaries of need that the organization represents. This is not always true.

The fact of the matter is that non-for-Profit grants can, and often do provide funding that a charitable or not for profit agency or organization can apply towards the necessities it requires to keep the administration running efficiently in order to work toward any given goal without showing personal profit from it. This means that the funding made available can be used to pay for rent to lease a facility to house the organization, purchase office equipment, supplies, equipment and other necessary tools needed to operate a fully functional organization or program.

This type of grant award is also available to provide a reasonable amount of funding to payroll the staffing of non-for profit organization as well as advanced training for the employees. When any particular expense is a necessity in keeping a non for profit agency running efficiently and reaching its goal, it is considered to be an acceptable reason to qualify for funding.

Contrary to popular belief, not all non for profit organizations are run or staffed by unpaid volunteers, and the tools needed to maintain these organizations are not always donated or paid for out of pocket. If you are part of a non for profit organization, or considering establishing one, make it easier on yourself and look to non for profit grants to help train, staff and equip your worthy cause with the funding you need to run efficiently and better serve your community.

One of the top dilemmas faced by low income American communities these days is affordable childcare resources. Nonprofit grants are a valuable tool in assisting the members of these communities in establishing various essential day care and after school program facilities for their youth.

As many of our country’s low-income urban neighborhoods are currently suffering overpopulation, the result of this situation is overcrowded schools, lack of preschools, head start programs, day care centers, and after school youth programs. Inevitably, these deprivations can lead parents to unemployment, and in the most extreme and unfortunate cases, homelessness.

During these desperate times, the members of these underprivileged communities are those who are hit the hardest. This is a serious concern today that requires immediate attention before it falls upon the shoulders of today’s easily misled youth. While parents struggle to make ends meet, some are forced to leave their children unsupervised in order to regularly attend work.

This not only is dangerous to the child, it can ultimately lead the child into the streets. Too many of our youth today wind up a statistic in the category of gang activity or street crimes. While other families become unemployed or under employed due to lack of proper and affordable child care. The availability of day care and youth center facilities could immensely aid in the avoidance of these tragedies occurring in our communities. There are numerous amounts of nonprofit grants available to communities in need of these type of facilities.

If you live in an area that is suffering these types of issues, and believe that there is a serious need for more after school youth programs, you, yourself can take action and achieve nonprofit grants to help better your community. Many people have single handily led a community to benefit by banding together and proposing that the government awards funds to their community leaders to improve the stability of it’s members. What you’d need to do is partner up with some of the local churches, park districts and/or public and private schools.

Although they are limited, these facilities already have the space and are fully equipped to establish these types of programs. With extra funding awarded by the government, they can expand, rebuild, update technological equipments, hire additional staff members, create advanced training programs to current staff members, and more. This type of action not only creates essential day care, youth outreach, and after school programs. It enables working parents to keep their jobs, save on child care services, and even creates more jobs within the community.

If you are interested in insuring the safety and educational well being of the children of your community and enriching the environment of all community members, talk to your local, PTA, schools, churches and park districts about the possibility of nonprofit grants to create quality youth centers and day care services in your area. One person really can make the difference.
