There are a variety of resources that have been available to individuals to find and search for grants from the government. The obvious place to start is the Federal Government grant site itself (here). This site can be helpful in finding federal government grants, but lacks the listings of local and private funding — of which individuals may have a greater interest in.

Particularly when it comes to small business, education, and home mortgage/home improvement grants, this money is more likely to be provided by local and state government agencies. That’s not to mention the availability of private funding, which can have terms that are just as attractive. To search for grants that are available through your local government agencies and the various private foundations, accessing on online database or directory is probably the best resource available.

There are a number of companies that compile detailed lists on the funds offered by different organizations throughout the country. When accessing these resources, you typically have the added benefit of additional grant writing resources. For instance, you can often call a hot-line to get help from a professional grant writer, who can walk you through the entire process of applying for and receiving these funds.

In addition, you’ll likely have access to a searchable database that will outline the amount of money that is currently available, the eligibility requirements in order to be considered for the particular grant, and sample applications that you can use as a model to submit the best possible request. As a result of using these resources, there is the potential to increase your chances of getting approved for the most amount of money possible. With access to one of these programs, you can often find:

Money to Pay Off Debt

Cash for Your Home Business Start-Up

Down Payment Assistance on Your New Home

Financial Aid for School

Help for Individuals Facing Financial Hardship

While the specific qualification requirement will vary from program to program, when you have access to the right resources to help you search for grants, you’ll have a chance to find multiple financial aid that you may qualify to receive. As long as you are at least 18 years old and a tax paying citizen, there is no limit on the number of offers that can be applied for or received.

If you have ever wanted to apply for free government money for any number of purposes, but did not know where to look for it, continue reading to learn about the many grant sources that are currently available to qualifying American citizens, and where to find them. The fact is, there is free unclaimed money available that taxpaying citizens can apply for.

While the United States government regularly and consistently distributes billions of dollars each year through government grant programs, to American citizens, they will not grant cash awards to anyone who is under the age of 18, or not an American citizen. However, these individuals are not completely left out of the pool of fortune because the United States government is not the only institution that offers financial assistance to individuals who help populate the country. There are a number of private, corporate, and charitable organizations that act as grant sources and are a bit less discriminatory than Uncle Sam.

Don’t get me wrong, the American government, for decades, has provided US taxpaying citizens with enormous amounts of much needed financial assistance and monetary funding. A great deal of support is available to American citizens, as the government may be required to provide it. However, with good reason, their responsibility ends there. It would neither be fiscally wise, nor socially acceptable to spend taxpayer’s money on those who have not contributed to the pot. While many illegal immigrants and others who currently dwell in our American communities may also be in need of assistance, they are not without hope for help.

There are a great number of cultural, religious, ethnic, youth related, charitable and just general partners of humanity organizations that are designed to help those who are left out by the US government because of lack of citizenship or otherwise. These grant sources are usually non for profit volunteer programs who, ironically, have acquired the same funds from the government that were previously denied to the individuals that the organizations were established to assist. Sound confusing? It is.

Simply put, Uncle Sam and the United States government are not as greedy, poorly budgeted, and cold hearted, as we like to think they are. When push comes to shove they make sure that American citizens have the free grant sources essential to keep us out of trouble. And big brother also, in a round about way, looks after the visitors of our fine nation, by helping the generous volunteers who help our guests.

Besides the common misconceptions about eligibility requirements, it seems that Americans are bypassing their free government money opportunities because they don’t know how to apply for a grant. It is really a shame that so many taxpaying citizens continue to struggle while barely getting by, or are investing their hard earned monies when financial assistance is readily available to them. In this article we will briefly outline a few forms of government provided financial aid, and how to apply for it.

One of the first things that should be mentioned is that government grants are not loans. This is literally free government money that you will never have to pay back. This funding gradually accumulates every year as we pay our taxes. The government may distribute free grants, but you, the taxpayer, have provided them. A significant amount of the taxes you pay to the United States government goes directly into the free grant programs, hence making practically everyone entitled to some amount of award money.

There are hundreds of free government grant programs that support a number of very worthy and necessary causes and purposes. Awards can be set at just a few hundred dollars in personal debt grants to pay off credit cards, rent, and things of that nature, to a few thousand in business grants to establish a new company, to several hundred thousand in home grants to purchase a house or start your own real estate development. The possibility and denominations of grant award amounts are endless, and most qualify.

The first and most important step in attempting to obtain free unclaimed government money is finding out which grant programs are specifically available to you, and where to go to apply for your benefits. You can easily accomplish this by searching the national grants database and carefully examining the listings provided by the United States government, as well as a variety of other privately run organizations that also offer free grants. Once you have found the proper grant programs that apply to your needs, desires, or situation, it is time to begin thinking about how to approach the grant writing and application process.

When learning how to apply for a grant, you must be very patient and do not become overwhelmed by all of the strict guidelines, procedures, and political jargon that is sure to be completely foreign to the common citizen. I will not lie to you. Grant writing is not a simple task. The application process is long and tedious, and if you have not met every single application requirement your proposal is sure to be denied. But you cannot let this discourage you. Nothing good in life comes easy, and something as remarkable as thousands of dollars in free government money is well worth the efforts put forth to achieve it.

The good news is there is help available to you. A majority of the local grant award agencies nationwide also provide citizens with free grant search guidance counseling where grant writing professionals volunteer their time and skills to help guide you through how to apply for a grant that suits your needs. There are free grant search websites at your fingertips online. By investigating these magnificent and readily available resources, you may be able to find the local agency in your area that will be willing to help you answer all of those vital questions about how to apply for grants. After you have achieved this knowledge, written your grant proposal, are found eligible, and received your cash, it would not be a surprise to find you back for more free money. You can receive as many free grants as you qualify for.

While most of us bust our backs trying to merely get by in hopes of someday achieving our goals, others take a the shorter path to success. A free grant search is the point of origin for these wise and resourceful individuals. The virtual starting point in the very strategic navigation of the most profitable business plan, of any nature, that American citizens may embark upon… acquiring free government money.

It is remarkable how many tens of thousands of taxpaying American citizens forgo their entitled opportunities to receive free government money, financial aid, government grants, college tuition assistance, and more, while the government sets aside billions of dollars each year specifically for all of the population to advantage. It is required by law that generous amounts of funding are awarded to all qualified applicants, yet millions of available dollars in free unclaimed money remains un-applied for.

It is commonly assumed that the grant writing and application process is quite tedious and intimidating to the inexperienced applicant. While this may be somewhat true, it is not an impossible obstacle to overcome for even the simplest of folks. Performing a simple, basic, and free grant search on the Internet is the most sensible place to start. There you will find access to various grant database centers that in many cases can walk you through the basic procedures and direct you to the local grant award agencies in your area. Many times you will be able to find charitable organizations that provide one on one professional guidance counseling to assist in your grant writing and application process.

Knowing now that there is not only an overabundance of free unclaimed government money available to American citizens, let’s talk a bit now about what types of funding are available and to whom. First of all let’s just dispel the myth that free government money is only available to people who are unfortunately of low income and in desperate situations, or welfare recipients. Although this is the most commonly heard of, and readily available government financial aid, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Many people who are considered wealthy may also still be eligible to qualify for certain types of free government grants. While performing your free grant search you will learn that there are free grants available to American citizens from either extreme, and everywhere in between.

Whether you are having a hard time making ends meet and need immediate financial aid, or you are quite well to do and are looking for supplemental investment funding by using real estate grants, there is likely to be found a number of appealing financial opportunities available to you through free government money grant programs. Help in finding the appropriate available grants for US citizens is certainly available. A free grant search is the first step to finding it.

The US American government is known to have a great amount of government funding available to it’s citizens, but it seems Georgia grants may be this countries most easily achievable forms of free government money.

As the economy continues to return to its forward moving state, it has been reported that many more American citizens are turning to the possibility of acquiring various types government funded grants to help alleviate the financial pressures that today’s economy has burdened them with. This has been a little known, or at least seldom exercised, practice that has been going on for decades. However, for obvious reasons, the amount applications processed for this type of funding has dramatically increased in recent years.

More an more citizens, in desperation, are discovering the numerous amounts of government financial aid that is available to US American citizens, and applying in masses. Every state in the country awards this type of grant money, but it seems that the state of Georgia grants these funds in a very organized and efficient manner than most other states.

It appears that perhaps state of Georgia may have been a bit quicker to anticipate the economic upheaval we are currently experiencing and decided to get a jump start on organizing their grant awarding system. As recently as March of 2006 the state of Georgia founded a The Grants Administration Unit within the Office of Procurement Services. This unit was specifically designed to help support The Georgia Department of Community Health.

This unit is active in insuring that all Georgia residents are not only fully informed and aware of the funds available through Georgia grant programs awards. But also to insure that the families and individuals who are in need of this funding are completely familiar with the grant writing process prior to application submission, are fairly and thoroughly evaluated during the approval process, are prepared with the necessary procedural requirements, and are properly assisted throughout the application process. This was a definite step in the right direction for our Peach state.

With all the stampeding to the local grant award agencies throughout the country, Georgia seems to be one of the few states who was prepared to take on the challenge of helping it’s community members in an organized and timely fashion which makes it much easier for the Georgia resident to advantage the funds needed in a timely manner. You can live anywhere in America and qualify to receive free government money in grants. But if you live in Georgia, grants may be much easier to acquire.

If you an Illinois resident in need of financial backing for any number of reasonable purposes, you should know that the state of Illinois grants billions of dollars in free government money to a great number of it’s citizens each year. The uses for these non repayable grant award funds are many and range from anything from small business grants to agricultural research funding to just plain old energy assistance to help with your utility bills.

In efforts to bring more awareness to Illinois residents about the fantastic monetary resources available to them, we’ll just briefly summarize a small few of the state of Illinois grants programs and the needs of which they apply to.

Energy – For those in need of energy assistance, there is a fantastic program called LIHEAP (Low Income Heat/Energy Assistance Program) that awards cash grants to low income families in need of help to pay their utility bills. And there is also a program for those who are necessarily considered low income, or in need of cash assistance but would like to learn to save on their energy bills or receive funding to purchase more energy efficient appliances. This program is called the State Of Illinois Division Of Energy and also teaches local teachers, residents and community business leaders about the importance of energy conservation programs.

Small Business – If you own a small business, you may want to look into EITP grants to extend your staff training. Employee Training Investment Program grants are awarded yearly to help small business owners provide advanced training programs to their staff members and/or provide initial training to newly hired employees.

Homelessness – This is needless to say, a major concern all over the country. In Illinois there is a program called the Emergency Shelter Grant Program. The ESGP on a regular basis provides funding to operate emergency homeless shelters, create more desperately needed homeless shelters, and provide the food, counseling, and essentials needed to help the homeless individuals in our state get back on their feet and off the streets. A very remarkable program indeed.

These are only a fraction of what is available to Illinois citizens by way funds made possible by Illinois grants programs. There are many fantastic opportunities for most Illinois citizens in the dozens of other grant programs that the state of Illinois offers.

Everybody’s talking about “going green” these days, which is great. Let’s talk about how to get some green to help “go green.” Environmental grants from the government are a good place to start. The Environmental Protection Agency, otherwise known as the EPA, sponsors a vast variety of grant programs to support environmental research and preservation. These types of programs provide environmentalists with enormous amounts of government funding to contribute towards the many organizations that help us to keep our planet safe, clean, and healthy.

The government has a great interest in funding these programs because it is quite obviously detrimental to the inhabitants, both human and animal, of this earth the we have a jump start, so to speak on what biological changes may occur in our atmosphere over the course of time. As the ozone layer thins and we concern ourselves with environmental dangers such as global warming, air and water pollution, we must prepare for the worst and preserve to prevent it. This takes an enormous amount of funding, and environmental grants provided by the US government and other state, federal and private organizations provide a great part of it.

A few of the types of grant programs that benefit environmental preservation and rehabilitation are;

Environmental Education Grants – These are designed to create educational projects to inform the general public about making fully informed decisions that affect the quality of our earthly environment.

Water Grants – Funds distributed on a state level to improve and insure the purity of drinking water, decontaminate wastewater, prevent general water pollution, and protect wetland areas.

Pollution Prevention Programs – This type of grant provides funds to tribal and state programs to aid in development of anti pollution procedures.

And my personal favorite…

The National Clean Diesel Campaign – This amazing program helps improve air quality and public safety by providing funding to support the development of emission reduction diesel engine programs throughout our entire country.

These are only a few of the agencies that award environmental grants to scientists, engineers, and even activists who are striving to make our earth a cleaner, safer, healthier and more beautiful place to live. There are many more on a federal, state or private level.

As much as we like to be down on the government about environmental safety, they actually are doing something about it. Environmental grants to save the earth are a great contribution to the cause.

With thousands of government sponsored and private foundation grants, there is money available for a wide variety of reasons. While a big part of the free grant money available is being provided by the government, there are hundreds of small businesses and non-profit organizations that also provide grant funds to families, students, minorities and small business owners. By providing this money, businesses obtain a tax write-off and non-profits maintain their tax-exempt status.

That’s why the government and other organizations are motivated to give this money away.

Unfortunately, most people are completely unaware that these programs exist or they do not know where to start to find these funds. Those who do know how to get approved for free government grant money are cashing in on this opportunity. Your application will be reviewed and, if you qualify, approved for the money you need.
