I start school on oct.4th, but i cant afford to go my full 4 years. i need money. i am a single parent no car, tryin to get a job, and i have my child. her father does not help in any way. please help me!!!

Great blog. There are free scholarships for mothers over the age of 18 available in the US. Take advantage of these opportunities, because President Obama wants to help American women finish their education.

i AM a single mother of 4 children, one who wishes to go to college as I would like to also. She is 24 and wants to become a teacher..she lives with my Mom in NY…I live in PA and am relocating to NY most likely in January 2010..sice my younger daughter and I only recieve 242 a month each from her fathers SS disability, we cannot afford to go to college. I would love to go into the healthfield working with older people, geriatrics…is there any way you can help us?

Hey i am a mother of soon to be two children. I have a daughter who is two years of age and will be due with my next baby in the beginning of February. I am a single mother and will be attending Carlow University in Pittsburgh to major in art education come August 26 2009. I am wondering how this fincial aid can be done and how quick. I have applied but does that mean I will recieve it an if so how quick.

I am the mother of a two year old. I was laid off last year from a teaching position because I was not certified. At the time, I was attending Coppin State University in Baltimore to complete my Master’s degree. I am only several courses from completing my Masters. I am in dire need of monetary assistance. This degree would open an entire new pool of jobs that I would become qualified for. Please offer any assistance so I can complete my goal and be better able to take care of my daughter and also demonstrate to her that you can do something great with your life, in spite of uncertain times. I am the mother of two elementary school age children. I work full time in healthcare. My divorce set me back substantially and I am my children’s only parent and sole supporter (child support was ordered but is not being paid regularly). I have a Bachelors in Journalism / Political Science. I have my PHR and would like to go on for a Masters in Healthcare. In my current role, I can go up one more level with a Bachelors but I want to be able to do better for my children and myself. I was previously in High Tech but was not able to continue to travel and “landed” in healthcare as a bit of a fluke and lots of great luck. I love my job and the organization I work for and would like to be here to retire. My income is half of what it was when I bought my home 8 years ago but we have made it this far.

I have 2 daughters, recently divorced. Id like to get an esthitician license at CHI – Concentric Healing Institute in Boulder, CO. I was hoping i could apply for a scholarship to help fund my further schooling.

I am right in the same boat with these other ladies.
I actually signed up for school, got a grant, got my loan in process. Then got an email stating I needed a co signer for my financial aid or I don’t get it.
School starts June 29th and if nothing happens, I don’t go.
I got divorced last year, then laid off June 08 from my job of 8 years as an office manager. I want to go to school for medical administration, but looks like that dream will fall through.
I will end up being one of the mother’s who has to work 2 jobs, 80 hours a week to support my family. Be tired, over worked, underpaid, with my children not getting the attention they deserve. It sucks.

I am already enrolled in grad school, MBA program and have been unemployed since 4/15/09. I had a loan for the previous term but am finding it very difficult to get a loan for the coming 2009-2010 school year and will have to drop out without financial aid. What grants/scholorships are available for single mom’s who are unemployed?
