Grants For Artists – Creativity Funding
Many Americans are becoming more aware of government financial aid due to the hard financial times this country is experiencing. However, grants for artists are still a well kept secret amongst citizens wishing to apply for these funds. The most obvious reason for this that I can fathom is that there is no specific title for an artist’s grant. Even though the artistically inclined may be eligible to qualify for numerous cash awards from the government that scientists, researchers, and non for profit organizations do, many artists overlook this fact.
There are available grants for artists to take advantage of in plentiful amounts. The artist must just learn how to lend their already established creativity to that of the grant writing process. Here are some examples…
Apply For A Research Grant – Remarkably, it is more than possible for an aspiring artist to acquire enough cash funding to finance an “educational research” grant to finance traveling the world to enrich your knowledge of your chosen art. Imagine being able to travel to the Sistine Chapel to study Michael Angelo, or to Egypt to study the sphinx on the government’s dime? It can be done.
Apply For A Small Business Grant – Would you like your own personal art gallery or studio to create, display and show your masterpieces? Or display the work of fellow artists? You may want to think about a small business loan to finance your art “store”. Hey, if you sell one water color portrait a month, it’s a business and it’s legit. And if Uncle Sam is paying the rent, it’s a deal.
Apply For A Non For Profit Grant – Not only are these grants the easiest to achieve, they can sometimes bring unforeseen rewards and fulfillment simply because you can help others or enhance their lives with the art that you are passionate about yourself. Perhaps you’d like to teach kids to paint, or sculpt, or maybe get a group of community members to help create a mural in your neighborhood to commemorate a special community leader or event. There are grants for artists that can help you achieve exactly that.
If you are an artist who would like to acquire supplemental funding to finance your artistic endeavors and projects, direct your creativity to strategize on a good grant proposal plan. Or several. Just because there’s no specific grants for artists doesn’t mean an artist can’t acquire a grant.

I am applying for an artist grant. I have been a musician for over 14 years now and would like to expand that into doing research on the music industry to incorporate that into funding events for local musicians in the area. I would like the talent around here to have places to be heard, ad to share their voices. There are not many venues and or businesses where I live that allow musicians to do so, with your help I feel that I could set up events locally especially with the summer coming around that would ensure exposure for the arts.
Thank you kindly for your time
